![]() x encrypted with Whirlpool by a simple password, and Veracrypt will not mount them no matter what, even in TC mode. Even though the two programs do not share the same file format, VeraCrypt has a legacy mode – TrueCrypt mode, which allows you to mount and use your older volumes without any problems. If you have TrueCrypt containers, you can still use them in VeraCrypt. Some Open Source supporters argue that you can always check the source code if you have doubts about the trustworthiness of the software. Not really trustworthy-at least questionable-for a security solution, if you ask me. The digital signature of TrueCrypt 7.1a is owned by the TrueCrypt Foundation and is expired. Select the drive in TrueCrypt, open the Volumes menu and select Permanently Decrypt item (available in version 7.2). If you do not have a spare drive, first decrypt the drive encrypted by TrueCrypt. If the TrueCrypt volume is file-hosted, delete it (the container) just like you delete any other file. Move all files from the TrueCrypt volume to any location outside the TrueCrypt volume (note that the files will be decrypted on the fly).
